Just over 1 per cent of sex offenders in Irish prisons are engaging in the State’s flagship treatment programme.
Figures released to Ireland South MEP Cynthia Ní Mhurchu also show the number of sex offenders jailed is four times higher than in 2018.
According to the Irish Prison Service, only eight of the 692 sexual offenders in custody are taking part in the Building Better Lives programme.
