Higher Education Minister calls for end to single-sex schools

The Higher Education Minister says he’d like to see an end to single-sex schools.

Patrick O’Donovan has expressed concerns about gender-based violence and “aggression” in society.

About a third of girls and over 40 per cent of boys attend single-sex schools in Ireland.

Kieran Christie, General Secretary of the ASTI, says resourced programmes to teach children about their responsibility to other people are preferable.
