The Minister for Justice has announced an updated database for missing persons.
It means information on cases from coroners around the country can be searched, and details on any items found with remains can be shared.
Helen McEntee announced the measures today, to coincide with National Missing Persons Day.
She says the Department of Justice is continually trying to step up efforts relating to cold cases:
