The Agriculture Minister says the Mercosur deal will be examined carefully before a stance is taken.
The deal will bring together key Latin American nations and will remove tariffs from more than 90 per cent of EU imports.
However, Irish farmers have raised concerns the deal would lead to the market being saturated with cheap imports.
