Cllr Jimmy Kavanagh of Fine Gael has been nominated to contest the Seanad election in February.
It’s reported in the Tir Chonaill Tribune that if he is successful, he will be seeking a nomination on either the Admin or Labour panels.
It’s expected the party will hold a national meeting this week to select the candidates who will move forward to contest for Seanad seats.
