Letterkenny University Hospital was the second most overcrowded in the country this morning with 47 admitted patients without beds, 20 of them on trolleys in the emergency department.
INMO figures show that nationally, the figure was 429, 115 of them at University Hospital Limerick, the largest number in the country.
There were 26 people awaiting beds in Sligo, 18 of them in the ED.
