
Donegal County Council should be prioritising Active Travel Schemes on the outskirts of Letterkenny and then moving in towards town, rather than the other way around.
That’s according to Cllr Donal Mandy Kelly, who called this week for road safety measures in Oldtown, including yellow boxes at the Hideout and Lismonaghan Junctions, as well as traffic calming measures, and a pedestrian footpath linking both junctions with the Oldtown Bridge.
Officials confirmed while there is no specific funding available, a safety assessment is being carried out to consider possible options such as improvement in road markings, traffic signals and possible one way systems.
If a scheme can be identified, they say, sources of funding will be sought to progress it.
