Blockade surrounding Raockall is “outrageous” – Deputy Mac Lochlainn

A Donegal Deputy says it is “outrageous” that there is essentially a blockade surrounding Rockall.

The uninhabited island is around 419km off the coast of Donegal, and 386km from St Kilda’s to the north-west of Scotland.

Ownership of the island and the fishing rights in the waters surrounding it have been heavily debated topics.

Responding to Deputy Padraig Mac Lochlainn in the Dail yesterday, Agriculture Minister Timmy Dooley said reaching an agreement with the British Government remains an important issue for the Irish Government

However, Deputy Mac Lochlainn says the fishing industry in Donegal and across the country is being negatively affected due to the lack of action:
