A significant search was carried out this evening after a member of the public reported hearing cries of help at Straghill Beach at 5pm.
Malin heat Coast Guard tasked the Rescue 118 helicopter, the Greencastle Coastguard unit and the Lough Swilly RNLI to the area for an extensive search.
The search was stood down a short later in the evening with nothing found. The call is being treated as a false alert with good intent.
