Motion of confidence in Tanaiste to be voted on today

A motion of confidence in the Tánaiste will be voted on in the Dáil this afternoon.

The move by the Government aims to pre-empt an Aontú plan to table a no-confidence motion in Simon Harris next week.

Aontú says it’s over Simon Harris’ time as Health Minister, when the party claims he failed significantly to deliver on the promise he made that children would not wait longer than four months for a scoliosis operation.

The proposed no-confidence motion also centres on what Aontú calls a “crisis” in Children’s Health Ireland and the death of nine-year-old boy Harvey Morrison Sherratt.
