RNLI crew lays a wreath at the scene of the 1935 Arranmore disaster

The crew of the Arranmore Lifeboat have laid a wreath at the site of the Arranmore Disaster this morning to commemorate 90 years since 19 people from the island lost their lives.

The tragedy happened on the evening of Saturday November 9th 1935, as a yawl, which had just left Burtonport harbour for the island, ran onto rocks.

One man on board the boat survived.
