The appointment of Bishop Niall Coll to the Raphoe Dioceses is the first Irish appointment made by Pope Leo.
Bishop Coll, a native of St Johnson, was welcomed warmly today in St Eunan’s Cathedral in Letterkenny.
Parishioners, local schools and members of his family were in attendance for the announcement.
