It’s emerged the reason for an 18 hour road closure in Inishowen on Monday was that 15,000 crabs had escaped when the truck in which they were being transported crashed into a ditch.
The live crustaceans were bound for restaurants in Portugal when the incident occurred between Quigley’s Point and Moville.
However 95% of the crabs were finally recovered, and sent on their way.
