Many people believes the number of immigrants from outside of Europe in Ireland is nearly twice as high as it actually is.
A new ESRI report has found a large gap between perceived levels of immigration and the official numbers.
The group says people who overestimate the number of migrants here tend to have more negative attitudes towards them.
