Irish people in the Middle East are being encouraged to sign up to the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Citizen Registration platform.
A large number of citizens, particularly in the UAE, are already registered, with several hundred more signing up yesterday.
Following coordination with EU partners, Minster Helen McEntee is advising against evacuations through Gulf countries, and continues to advise citizens to “shelter in place”.
She says her department is maintaining contact with the airlines of people who were in transit when the conflict began yesterday.
