Thursday, 2 April 2026: Uisce Éireann crews are working to return water supply to customers in Letterkenny and surrounding areas this morning.
Due to operational issues encountered at Goldrum Water Treatment Plant last night, reservoir levels have fallen. This is impacting supply to some homes and businesses in Currghleas, Ballaghaderg, Illistrain, Letterkenny, and surrounding areas today.
Damien O’Sullivan of Uisce Éireann said work is ongoing to resolve the issue and restore normal supply as quickly as possible.
“We acknowledge the impact of an outage such as this on our customers. Our crews have been working through the night to restore operations at the plant and are doing all we can to bring supply back to normal levels as quickly as possible,” said Damien.
Repairs are due to be complete by 1pm this afternoon. Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, customers in higher elevation areas may continue to experience loss of supply or low water pressure until reservoirs fully recharge later this evening, as full reservoir levels are required to restore pressure to elevated sites.
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
