Derry City have been beaten 2-1 by Galway United in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division at Eamon Deacy Park this evening.
David Hurley had the home side ahead on 16 minutes and it remained that way until just after the hour-mark when James Clark equalised for Derry.
Frantz Pierrot then got the winner on 82 minutes for John Caulfield’s side to inflict even more early-season misery on The Candy Stripes.
Tiernan Lynch’s team have now lost four out of their first nine games and are languishing in 8th spot in the league standings ahead of only Waterford and Sligo Rovers.
In other results tonight, St. Patrick’s Athletic have gone top of the table thanks to a 4-1 home win over Sligo Rovers, Bohemians were held 0-0 by Drogheda United so they slip to 2nd spot, Dundalk had an impressive 3-2 away win at Shelbourne and champions Shamrock Rovers could only manage a 1-1 draw at the RSC against Waterford.
Derry City, meanwhile, face a trip to The Showgrounds on Easter Monday to take on Sligo Rovers.
