A Donegal woman has told an Oireachtas committee on transport that the failure to meet a 2024 commitment that more garda personnel would be assigned to roads policing is a disgrace.
Susan Gray, founder of PARC road safety group, spoke with other bereaved families in calling for action to stop the fall of RPU members.
Numbers have from over 1,000 officers in 2009 to about 650 in 2026.
Susan says the then garda commissioner Drew Harris made the promise two years ago, but nothing was done:
