Team Ireland reaches the summit of Mount Everest

A Waterford man has become the youngest Irish person to ever climb Mount Everest.

22-year-old Adam Sweeney from Dunmore East reached the summit in the early hours of this morning.

He was joined by former Mayo footballer Pádraig O’Hora, Eanna McGowan, and their Sherpas, Pemba, Milan, and Sona.

The mission was coordinated by Letterkenny mountaineer Jason Black, who stayed at Camp 4 after an ankle injury preventing him from striking out for the summit.

Earlier today from Camp 4, Jason Black posted a video of himself getting the news from one of the Sherpas that his team had reached the top…..
