First witness to be called at trial of Jeffrey Donaldson

The first witness will be called this morning as the trial of Jeffrey Donaldson, over alleged historical sexual offences, continues at Newry Crown Court.

It’s the first week of the trial, which is expected to last between three and four weeks.

The former DUP leader has pleaded not guilty to all 18 charges he’s facing.

His wife Eleanor denies charges of aiding and abetting, and is facing a ‘trial of facts’.
