Cllr McMonagle repeats call for meeting with Minister over traffic

Donegal County Council is to write once again to Transport Minister Darragh O Brien seeking a meeting to discuss the need to advance major road projects in Letterkenny, particularly the southern relief road.

Cllr Gerry McMonagle says the minister needs to reminded of the urgency of these works, particularly as Letterkenny is an area of Economical Regional Development.

There was disagreement in the chamber when Cllr Ciaran Brogan said much of the blame for the current congestion lies with the active travel programme, a claim denied by Cllr McMonagle.

Cllr McMonagle told the meeting that experience over the past number of days has once again laid bare the chronic traffic issues the town faces on a daily basis, and an urgent meeting is required………..
