Deputy Ward calls for greater recognition of Domestic Abuse services

 

A Donegal TD has voiced his support for Jennie’s Law in the Dáil chamber this week.

Jennie’s Law will result in those convicted of domestic violence against a partner or former partner being included on a public register.

The law is named after Jennifer Pool who was murdered by her former partner Gavin Murphy in Dublin in 2021.

Deputy Charles Ward said that the public register would be a ‘lifesaving resource.’

He added demand for domestic abuse services in Donegal is only increasing and the services should be recognised as vital:
