Almost one-third of new Social Democrat voters have migrated from Sinn Féin over the last two months.
The latest Sunday Independent/Ireland Thinks poll shows a further 14% came from Labour, 12% came from Fine Gael, 10 per cent came from the Green Party and 9% from Fianna Fáil.
Support for the Social Democrats is averaging at 11% this summer – more than twice what it was in the last general election.
