Vape shop growth prompts calls for greater council powers

There’s a call to give local authorities greater powers to control the type of shops opening in their areas.

It follows a decision by the British government to allow councils there to reject businesses which are not considered good for communities.

The proliferation of vape shops across the country has prompted calls for a similar move in Ireland.

Independent Councillor in Wexford, Leonard Kelly, says they can’t prevent them from opening at the moment:
