A man in his thirties has been arrested in Derry following a road traffic collision in the city this morning.
Police say at around 8 o’clock this morning, they received of a single-vehicle collision in the Shantallow area, close to .
The driver had left the scene.
Police say when officers arrived at the scene of the incident, they located a vehicle on the grass on the Glengalliagh Road with extensive front damage. A nearby streetlight had also been knocked over.
It was reported that the male driver had made off towards the Moss Park area, and following enquiries, police and Northern Ireland Ambulance Service personnel subsequently attended another address, where the man was located.
He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving when unfit through drugs and failing to stop, remain at the scene and report the collision to police.
Anyone with information, including dash-cam or other footage, is asked to contact police.
