Police in Derry have arrested an 18-year-old male overnight following an incident in the city centre.
As officers were making enquiries into an altercation at 3.40am, they became aware of an unreported incident at a shop in the same area.
It is understood that the man had entered the premises and brandished a weapon at staff, following an altercation which occurred when the he grabbed an item off the shelf. No physical injuries were reported by staff.
Officers arrested the 18-year-old on suspicion of aggravated burglary and stealing, and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place. He was also arrested on suspicion of Possession of Class A and Class B controlled drugs, and he remains in custody at this time.
