Police ask locals to be vigilant following a cold calling report in Strabane

Police in Strabane are reminding residents to be vigilant following a report of a suspicious caller to a home in Strabane last Friday at around 1:00 pm.

The caller claimed he was from a housing authority and was at the home to carry out a repair.

He declined to show identification when asked by the occupant and left the property in a pink-coloured vehicle.

It was subsequently confirmed that the man was not an employee of the housing authority.

Police remind individuals to never allow cold callers into your home, and to always ask for official identification. They also advise displaying a ‘No Cold Calling’ sticker on the door or window at the front of their properties.

Anyone contacted by a suspicious caller should call police on 101 or online at https://reporting.psni.police.uk/report/. In an emergency, dial 999.
