No non-compliances were recorded in HIQA inspections at three residential centres for people with disabilities in Donegal for which reports have been published today.
There were three residents in place at Dreenan in Stranorlar when it was inspected in June, and four each at the Moville Residential Group Home and Teach Sona in Bundoran when they were inspected in May.
All three were deemed to be fully compliant in every area that was inspected.

Dreenan Designated Centre is managed by the Health Service Executive (HSE) and provides residential support for up to five residents. The centre consists of a detached bungalow with five bedrooms situated on a small campus within walking distance of a large town in County Donegal. All residents have their own bedroom and access to shared amenities, including a kitchen, dining room, two sitting rooms, a visitor’s room, and bathroom facilities. A dedicated team of nurses and healthcare assistants provides 24/7 support to residents.
The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) carried out an announced inspection of this designated centre on the 3 June 2026 and the report was published on the HIQA website on 24 September 2026.
During the inspection the, the inspector met with all three residents throughout the day. One resident told the inspector that they were happy living there, that the staff were nice and the ‘craic was good’. Residents spoke about the places they enjoyed visiting and the people they liked visiting. The inspector observed warm, respectful, and relaxed interactions between residents and staff.
During the inspection, eighteen regulations were inspected and all regulations were found to be fully compliant.
HSE Disability Services in the Donegal Integrated Healthcare Area will continue to work to ensure that robust governance, quality and safety measures are in place within Dreenan designated centre to ensure high quality supports and services are experienced by all residents.

HIQA Inspection – Moville Residential Group Home – OSV 0003339

Moville Residential Group Home Designated Centre is managed by the Health Service Executive (HSE) and provides full-time residential care and support to four residents with an intellectual disability. The designated centre is situated on substantial grounds with large front, side and rear gardens and comprises of a kitchen/dining area, two sitting rooms, two bathrooms, 4 bedrooms and a utility room. Residents are supported by a skill mix of Nursing and Care Assistants who provide 24-hour support.
The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) carried out an unannounced inspection on the 27 May 2026 and the report was published on the HIQA website on 24 September 2026.
The inspector noted in the report that staff spoke respectfully with residents and with each other. It was noted by the inspector that residents were provided with choice and their decisions were respected. Residents held meetings each Sunday where they decided what to do, where to go and what was needed in the shop. The inspector noted residents as independent and highlighted numerous observations of where this was shown.
During the inspection sixteen regulations were inspected and all sixteen regulations were deemed fully compliant.
