A one-way system has been proposed to help ease traffic congestion around Little Angels School in Letterkenny.
Cllr Thomas Sean Devine is asking the Municipal District to support opening the Knocknamona Road, which runs alongside the school towards the N56, to one-way traffic.
He says this would allow traffic travelling up the N56 to turn left into the school and could help reduce congestion during school drop-off and collection times.
However, the Council says introducing a one-way system would require either a new entry or exit junction onto the N56 and they would need approval from Transport Infrastructure Ireland, as well as an assessment of its potential impact on traffic movements and road safety along the national road.
