Midlands North West MEP Ciaran Mullooly says he’s secured a debate in the European Parliament’s Agriculture Committee later today on the need for more EU controls on Brazilian beef, following the restrictions that took effect on the 3rd of this month.
In particular, he’ll be raising what happened in October last year when contaminated beef from Brazil entered the EU food chain when it came into the Republic from Northern Ireland.
Mr Mullooly says most importantly, he’ll be pressing for concrete measures to ensure that this doesn’t happen again……..
