A new state-of-the-art building is finally on the way for Raphoe Community Playgroup, after its staff and students were forced to leave their original premises because of defective concrete.
The childcare facility has since been operating as two separate services across two locations.
Today, Raphoe has been named as one of seven locations to be developed under the State-led Early Learning and Childcare Capital Programme.
The announcement has been widely welcomed by the community.

However, while the scheme provides a solution for Raphoe Community Playgroup, it is not specifically targeted at childcare settings affected by defective concrete.
It’s understood there are currently a further 20 childcare facilities affected by deleterious materials.
