Gardaí issue appeal for witnesses after serious N13 collision

Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses after a serious road traffic collision which occurred on the N13 at Lurgybrack, Letterkenny yesterday.

The incident happened at around 5:20pm and involved a car and motorcycle.

The man in his 50s driving the motorcycle was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for injuries described as serious.

The woman in her 60s driving the car was also taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

The N13 remains closed for a technical examination this morning.

Those who were in the area of Lurgybrack between 4:30pm and 5:30pm are urged to contact Gardaí, particularly those who may have camera footage including dash-cam.

Gardaí ask that any HGVs and other large vehicles travelling to Letterkenny from the direction of Stranorlar to do so via Lifford or Convoy and avoid the N13.

Those in HGVs departing Letterkenny on the Lurgybrack side of town should also avoid the N13 and travel via the Lifford Road.

The diversion routes in use are quite narrow and traffic is expected to be heavy on them.
