Gardaí have launched a murder investigation following a house fire in Waterford city which claimed the lives of two adults and two children.
Two other children remain critically injured in hospital.
A man, a woman and two children lost their lives after a fire broke out at a house in the Birchwood estate, south of Waterford city, shortly after five o’clock this morning.
Two other children were rescued from the house and rushed to hospital with critical injuries.
Gardaí have now confirmed they’re treating the fire as arson and have launched a murder investigation.
An incident room has been established at Waterford Garda Station, and a senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the murder investigation.
