Members of the Defence Forces spotted in Stranorlar this morning are there for routine training exercises, unrelated to last night’s threats against schools.
Speculation arose after personnel were seen boarding two minibuses near the local golf club, in a video which has been circulated on social media.
It has since been confirmed that the Defence Forces use the area as a parking point before travelling to training locations.
A spokesperson has also confirmed to Highland Radio News that the Army Bomb Disposal Unit has not been involved in responding to the threatening emails sent to schools.
The unit attended two callouts in Dublin yesterday, neither involving a school, and both were deemed insignificant.
