More than €283,000 in unpaid ticket proceeds has prompted Donegal’s Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival to seek stronger protections for event organisers across Europe.
The Festival has submitted a petition to the European Parliament, calling for greater safeguards for money collected by ticketing companies on behalf of festivals, event organisers and performers.
The petition is awaiting registration and assessment, with no decision yet confirmed on its admissibility.
At the centre of the campaign is the Rory Gallagher Festival Declaration, a proposed European Charter calling for greater financial transparency and practical measures to protect ticket proceeds if a ticketing company becomes insolvent.
