Bradley not satisfied with Executive response to autism-friendly parking proposal

An Inishowen councillor says he is not satisfied with the responses he has received to his calls for autism-friendly parking spaces.

Cllr Fionán Bradley says he has seen the initiative work in North Dublin, where the spaces operate on an honour system, with no fines or penalties for people who use them without an autistic person in the vehicle.

However, he says officials have raised concerns about whether the scheme would work and the potential exclusion of road users with other disabilities.

Cllr Bradley says that could be addressed by designating the spaces as Special Educational Needs, or SEN, parking spaces………………
