Coronation Street’s Roy Cropper goes to Blackpool with new interest

Corrie’s Roy Cropper is to return to Blackpool for the first time since the death of his wife Hayley.
Roy (David Nielsen) and new love Cathy Matthews (Melanie Hill) visit the seaside town to celebrate his 61st birthday.
It is supposed to be a happy occasion and Roy tries to enjoy himself.
But when Cathy mentions the Tower Ballroom, Roy is reminded of the special dance he shared with Hayley on their trip to Blackpool when she knew she was dying from cancer.
Roy has been grieving for the past year after wife Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) decided to end her life when she was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer.
Cathy, who owns the allotment plot next to Roy’s, has been recently widowed herself and they have been slowly growing closer.
These new scenes will air on the ITV soap from Monday September 21, building up to the live episode on Wednesday 23 at 7.30pm.
