
A Donegal Senator has told the CEO of An Post and Minister Denis Naughten that what is needed is honesty in relation to the closure of 159 post offices across the country.
Speaking at the Oireachtas Committee on Communications, Senator Padraig MacLochlainn revealed that from 1999 to 2011, almost 40% of the post office network in Ireland was closed.
He says while there has been a gradual collapse of the network what is needed now is an honest discussion as to how services in rural areas can be retained:
