Cabinet warned Ireland could face fuel and food shortage

Cabinet has been warned that Ireland could face fuel and food shortages because of the Ukrainian crisis.

The Irish Independent reports that a ‘worst case scenario’ briefing has been presented to cabinet ministers and outlines how fuel may have to be rationed and public transport services cut, if the energy crisis sparked by the Russian invasion spirals out of control.

The confidential memo also warns of potential food shortages and of the potential for a cyber attack on RTE.
