A polish woman living in Donegal has described a Judge’s comments as a generalisation and unfair.
It comes after Judge Mary Devins compared the social welfare system to a charity for Polish people, at Castlebar District Court last Friday.
In a statement last night, she apologised for the remarks, saying they were intended to be specific to one incident and were never intended to offend the Polish community.
Speaking on the Shaun Doherty Show this morning, Magdalene said the Polish community seems always to get blamed for abusing the Irish system:
The Integration Centre say it will make a formal complaint to the Gardai over the judges comments.
The Centre says her comments were “False, bigoted and borderline racist”.
Meanwhile Donegal solicitor Seamus Gunn says he is surprised by the public reaction to the judges comments.
He says it was a flippant off the cuff remark and that the judge did apologise:
