Partner of Donegal man saw two men kick him to death

The partner of a Donegal man told a murder trial she watched from her window as two men kicked him to death.
William McKeeney died in hospital after being found fatally injured in the street by his partner Annmarie Newlands yards from their Glasgow flat earlier this year.
20-year-old Asif Rehman, and 19-year-old Adel Ishaq, are accused of punching, kicking and stamping on Mr McKeeney in a prolonged attack just yards from his home in Pollokshields, Glasgow.
Ms Newlands broke down as she gave evidence in the trial at the High Court in Kilmarnock.
She told the jury that she looked out of the window of the flat she shared with 57-year-old Mr McKeeney, originally from Malin Head, and saw two men, one of whom was very tall, kick and stamp on something in the street.
In evidence, Ms Newlands said at the time of the alleged murder on January 15 this year, she could not see what it was the men were kicking and believed they were breaking up a piece of furniture.
She said that it was only after the men had left and she walked out to the street that she discovered that the men had been kicking Mr McKeeney.
Ms Newlands phoned 999 to raise the alarm and her partner was taken to the Victoria Infirmary where he later died. The trial also heard that Mr McKeeney had been walking home from his local pub when he was attacked.
The trial is expected to last two weeks.
