Buncrana Town Council are to write a letter in support of Malin Head Coastguard Station to the government.
The Fisher report published earlier this year suggested that Malin Head and Valentia Coastguard stations be closed and the service centralised to Dublin.
The report, released in July this year, has cast serious doubt over the future of the station.
