The national suicide prevention organisation Console, is urging anyone affected by cyber bullying to seek help from the organisation immediately.
It comes after three Irish teenagers – who were being bullied online – took their own lives in the space of a few weeks.
The latest tragic incident occured in Donegal on Saturday, when 13 year old Erin Gallagher from Ballybofey died by suicide – after she posted a message on the social networking website ask.fm.
Founder and director of the anti-bullying centre in Trinity College Dublin, Mona O’Moore says these websites must take responsibility – and allow users to report abusive comments…………..
Her school, Finn Valley College, opened today, with a team of eight psychologists and advisers on hand to help any students affected by Erin’s death. A similar facility will be offered on Wednesday after her funeral.
