The government is being told that the North West City Region needs to be fully recognised in the National Planning Framework.
During a national consultation process, Donegal County Council made a submission in its own right, and was also involved in a joint submission with Derry City and Strabane.
The submissions stressed the need for the Derry-Letterkenny City Region to be recognised within the NPF in the same way as Limerick, Galway and Waterford, and for Letterkenny’s status as a key Regional Growth Centre to be strengthened.
However, officials say an updated draft of the new framework published earlier this month does not reflect the council’s recommendations.
