Man arrested during Letterkenny anti-immigration protest released without charge

A man in his 30s, arrested for public order offences during immigration marches in Donegal, has since been released without charge.

More than a thousand people took part in the ‘pro’ and ‘anti’ immigration demonstrations yesterday, in Letterkenny.

Gardaí formed a human chain to keep the two sides apart, with officers in riot gear in attendance and the Garda Air Support Unit monitoring the scene from overhead.

Both marches were diverted into separate streets, and Gardaí say both events passed off peacefully.
