Gardaí have launched an investigation after a student was allegedly set upon from behind from another student.
The incident took place on the Market Yard in Ballyshannon at 1.30pm, during the school lunch break.
Both students involved are male.
The injured boy attended Sligo University Hospital to receive medical treatment for non life threatening injuries.
Those who believe they have information are asked to come forward.
