Government to consider generational smoking and vape ban

Tobacco and vapes could be phased out for those born after the 1st of January 2009.

The government is considering the move, as new UK rules come into force next year – including for the North.

It’s a mirror of a move made in New Zealand, which eventually ended up with a U-turn following concerns it opened a black market.

Luke Clancy, Director General of the Tobacco Free Research Institute, says all of society needs to buy into the move:
