New Prior of Lough Derg included in Diocese of Clogher assignments

Bishop of Clogher Larry Duffy has made annual clergy assignments which includes the appointment Monsignor Joseph McGuinness as new Prior of Lough Derg.

Monsignor McGuinness will succeed Monsignor La Flynn, who has been in post since October 2017 in the coming weeks.

A native of Lisnaskea in Co Fermanagh, he was educated at St Michael’s College, Enniskillen, Queen’s University Belfast and St Patrick’s College, Maynooth, before being ordained a priest in 1984.

Accepting the role, Monsignor McGuinness said he was “very conscious of the rich and ancient heritage of Lough Derg and its immense significance in the spiritual history of the Irish Church and the religious culture of Europe.”

Bishop Duffy’s appointments also see Reverend Stephen Duffy, currently curate in charge of Castleblayney and Clontibret parishes, appointed Parish Priest of Bundoran and Ballyshannon.

He will be replaced in Castleblayney and Clontibret by Reverend Jeremiah Munyoki wa Kalekye, who is currently curate in charge of Bundoran and Ballyshannon.
