As all schools across the county prepare to reopen for the new academic year, Department of Education figures reveal that 33,747 students will be attending primary and post-primary schools in Donegal this September.
19,052 pupils are enrolled in primary schools, including special schools, with 2,136 children starting Junior Infants.
Meanwhile, 14,695 students are in secondary education, with 2,531 students beginning First Year.
Nationally, 965,000 students, over 75,000 teachers and 23,000 special needs assistants are returning to classrooms this term.
