The Leas-Cathaoirleach of the Glenties Municipal District says progress has been made on a project to improve safety at a bridge near Fintown.
Curreen Bridge has been the subject of ongoing political attention, as efforts continue to advance the planned upgrade works.
A tender process is now underway for ground investigations to assess the conditions beneath the site and identify any potential anomalies before construction can begin.

The purpose of this contract is to conduct the detailed ground investigation to progress the detailed design of the scheme.
The GI will extend over the entire length of the proposed road development.
Ground Investigation points will be carried out in the areas of the existing and new road construction with a number of trial pits to be carried out in green field sites.
The objective of the ground investigation is to ascertain the ground and groundwater conditions that will be encountered along the route of the R250 – Droichead an Churraoin Road Realignment and to investigate anomalies which may be identified during the investigation.
